The “Dárek pro Putina” campaign was launched in November 2023 with the goal of raising funds to acquire a UH-60 Black Hawk in the United States, where the price was significantly more affordable.
During the fundraising effort, more than 20,500 donors contributed, totalling around CZK 72.3 million (close to US$ 3 million).
With the amount raised, it was possible to purchase modern equipment suited to Ukraine’s needs for evacuation, tactical transport, and special missions.
Strategic Importance
This UH-60 helicopter represents a significant reinforcement for Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence (HUR), enhancing its ability for rapid deployment, specialized aerial support, and evacuation in conflict zones.
Elegant in its simplicity and robust in design, the UH-60 is a medium utility helicopter of American origin, widely used for troop transport, cargo, and medical evacuation.
By early 2025, HUR was already operating two UH-60s, and this third one was obtained through this Czech civil initiative.
